We Loev noodles

Things may change; stepping out of a traditional Dutch downpour into an urban jungle. The combination of green plants, earth tones and luxurious velvet feels classy and invites you to come in. The cheerful monkeys on the wallpaper radiate warmth and hospitality. We are at Bar Bistro Loev, an atmospheric bistro that serves innovative dishes with an Asian twist.  

Authentic Asian cuisine with a modern twist

These are the words of Lars Sijtsma, head chef of the Loev branches in Hengelo and Deventer: “I have been head chef at Loev for some time now. We have created a very cool concept. The cuisine and the vibe are different from what people are used to. Through my travel experiences all over the world, where I worked as a chef, I gained a lot of inspiration. I got to know other cultures and tastes. Eventually, I ended up in Asia. That’s where I learned how to make the most delicious dishes. I have combed the whole of Southeast Asia, looking for new insights. Here at Loev, I give my own twist to the mostly Asian dishes. I pour authentic dishes with a modern twist. You could describe it as reinventing Asian classics, but just a little different.”  

Food for the soul

Both branches of Loev use the wok noodles of De Miefabriek for their dishes. We understand that a restaurant like Loev only uses quality products. We are therefore quite proud that Lars has chosen our noodles, made according to an age-old process, from honest raw materials, without additives. We asked Lars why he specifically chooses our noodles: “Every dish we make here has to be a taste explosion. The noodles from De Miefabriek have a firm bite and are pure nature, we also say ‘food for the soul’. I have eaten a lot of noodles on my trip through Asia and I can honestly say that your noodles are not inferior to that. Authentic noodles with which I can evoke the real feeling of Asia.” Our own product developer Enzo adds: “I came here when you had just opened. Promising, different and I immediately felt the influences from Asian cuisine. I was pleasantly surprised by the quality and the flavors that came to my plate. When we got a dish with noodles, it turned out not to be ours. I brought a box of our wok noodles the next day and two days later they were on the menu!”  

Good noodles are an advantage in the kitchen

Lars adds: “Yes, and we’ve been using your noodles ever since. I have to say that I have yet to come across a better noodle. You can see and taste that they have been prepared with great precision. The nice thing is that they don’t stick together in the pan, which is very important. This way we can make beautiful dishes, without them sticking to the plate. I’ve used other noodles before; Even if you rinse them, throw some sesame oil over them, you are still fumbling and pulling on those noodles. That takes a lot of time.” Good noodles therefore mean saving time, the right portioning and no waste. This is not unimportant in the calculation of the dishes. But above all, they are the perfect basis for the beautiful dishes that Loev has on the menu. Finally, Lars wants to say: “Working with your wok noodles is very pleasant. In addition, I also think it is very special that something so authentic is made here in the region. And that I can represent that in my dishes!”
